Judges:
Robin
Wise GB:

I
have been working labradors for nearly 30 years. I started with
one bitch called Quiver of Monkfield and I loved picking up with
her, but she was a bit too hot for field trials. My second bitch,
Tremble of Monkfield , won an Open Stake and I ran in the Championships
at Sandringham in 1982, but didn't get very far.
Since
then I have made up 3 Field Trial Champions and run in the Championships
4 times. I have been an "A" Panel judge for over 10
years. I am Chairman of the Labrador Retriever Club and on the
Committee of the International Gundog League.
I
judged the International at the Game Fair at Broadlands and the
European Challenge at the Game Fair at Blenheim. I judged the
"Coupe d' Europe" for Retrievers in Austria in 2005.
My
husband and I currently own 6 labradors , ranging in age from
1 to 11. One of these has won one Open Stake and one is running
in Novice stakes. I do a lot of picking up with them all in the
winter as well as trialling them when I can.
Mike
& Gwen Knox, GB:

Mike
and Gwen acquired their first golden retriever in 1973. They are
prbably best known for this breed today, although they have also
successfully trained and trialled labradors, flatcoats, spaniels
and setters.
Gwen's
great love was working her setters on the grouse moors of northern
England and Scotland. She would call this the purest dog work
of all.
Mike
ran his frist retriever field trial in 1978, with Gwen following
shortly afterwards. Her dog, F.T.Ch. Holway Dernier gained an
Award of Honour at the 1987 Retriever Championship. Denier is
on or behind most working golden retriever pedigrees today, having
sired three field trial champions and many field trial winners.
He was top trialling dog and top sire for three years.
Mike
and Gwen started judging in 1982 and have been on the Kennel Club
'A' panel since the early 1990s. Both have judged field trials
and working tests extensively in the United Kingdom and in most
wetsren European countries. Gwen is currently Vice President,
Vice Chairman and Field Trial Secretary of the Golden Retriever
Club. Mike has been a long serving Field Trial Secretary for an
any variety club, organising field trials for retrievers, spaniels
and pointers & setters.
They
have both served on the Kennel Club Field Trial Council and have
been the International Arena commentators at the CLA Game Fair
for many years.
Both
Mike and Gwen are honoured to be judging this prestigious Field
Trial and look forward to meeting gundog friends, old and new.
Fons Exelmans,

I
bought my first Labrador in order to have a pleasant companion.
With this dog, I attended obedience classes and followed a course
on game hunting. That's how I ended up in the world of retrievers.
I run my dogs in working tests and field trials. This resulted
in the titles of 'Belgian field trial champion', 'International
field trial Champion', winner of the 'European Retriever Championship
(Coupe d' Europe)' and winner of the 'Belgian Retriever Championship'.
I
take special pride in winning twice the Coupe d'Europe with the
Belgian team. As an FCI judge I judge the types of contests I
am familiar with. Picking up with my dogs and some friends and
their dogs during hunting season gives me a lot of pleasure.
In
the "Gouden Jachthoorn" in Zichem I am a member of the
team of instructors that tries to teach dogs and handlers the
'basics' of retriever training. Regularly people invite me abroad
for a seminar or training days. Installing confidence in a dog
through carefully taking little steps towards the goal, I regard
as the bottom line in training.
Being
the Belgian delegate in the FCI commission for retrievers, I was
elected as president of this commission last year. I love retrievers
that work with determination and, when necessary, respond well
to the help given by their handler. I wish every competitor the
best of luck and ...may the best win.
Bob Stobbart, GB:

I
am 55 years old, married to Christine and between us we have three
grown up daughters and a son. We live near Durham City in the
North East of England together with our three black Labradors
and one Golden Retriever.
I
am an "A" panel judge for the UK Kennel Club and have
judged for a number of years on the continent. I recently retired
from my career as a prison officer in Her Majesty's Prison, Durham.
Previously, I was employed as an electrician, working in the coal
mines. Traditionally, miners, because of where they work, enjoy
outdoor pursuit - shooting, fishing, hunting, etc and I am no
different.
I
have had dogs all my life. I joined the English North East Gundog
Clubs more than 30 years ago and became skilled at training and
working dogs correctly, gaining a wealth of experience. I have
owned and trained a succession of dogs over the years, Labradors
and Goldens, all of which have won either tests or trials. The
most successful was a Golden, FTCH Robenda Souix, who competed
twice in the UK Kennel Club Championship.
I
am happy to share my experience and knowledge with you and I thank
you for inviting me to judge in your country. May I wish you all
success.
Rony Michiels,

My dog story started 30 years ago.
A few weeks after I got married, my wife and I took the decision
to buy a Labrador
to live with us and our horses, his name was "Fame".
Thanks to "Fame" a whole new world was opening for me;
the Dogworld.
I had a lot of success with him, in Field trials, Working Tests,
Hunting Tests
and in the Showring.I bought my first Field Trial dog from Alan
Thornton - Tess Lawrence and secondly a bitch from Lynn Minchella.
In their time, they both won several Field Trials, with C.A.C.T.
The last years her offspring, living with me and some others in
other European countrys, have done superb winning Field Trials
and Working Tests. Until today I have made up 3 Field trial Champions.
I have judged since 1990, not only in Shows but also Hunting Tests,
Working Tests,
and Field Trials, thanks to judging appointments like those of
the DRC all over Europe.
I have met a lot of Retriever people and I have had the opportunity
to get know them
better and appreciate them more.
Looking forward to seeing you all in the Field and wish you all
a lot of joy,
success and happiness with your Best Friend!
Jörg Mente,D:
Prüfungsleitung
/ manager of the trial
Living
in southern Germany I am hunting for more than 40 years. Hunting
has been part of my forest engineer's profession in forest administration
there. All this time we were accompanied by dogs, and last 25
years by Labradors. Among classic retriever-abilities my dogs
also are trained in searching for wounded deer and boar on blood
trail. In my opinion prey motivation makes Retrievers qualified
for blood-trailing, and training for usual retriever-handling
is complemented well by this work.
Very
pleased at this invitation it's a great honour for me, to judge
ICC-Event in a team of well known foreign judges.

Prüfungsleitung
/ manager of the trial
Retrievers
have been my passion for more than 16 years now and from the very
beginning I have time and again been deeply impressed by their
abilities in the shooting field. I take my dogs picking up regularly,
I compete in cold game tests and field trials, in classical German
hunting tests and outside the shooting season I run them in working
tests at all levels all over Europe.
I established my FCI-Kennel with the affix "Gunsight's"
in 1998 and have bred four litters since then. My yellow Labrador
bitch "ChTCH Gunsight's Autumn Sage" won two CACITs
and was awarded "Top Dog" at the International Gundog
Event for Retrievers at Sherborne (GB) in 2003. Her son "IntFTCh
& Dt. Jagd-Ch Gunsight's Bracket" followed her footsteps
and was awarded "Top Dog" at the European Cup for Retrievers
2007, winning two CACITs at one weekend, which made him up International
Field Trial Champion. In 2008 Bracket was also a member of the
winning German team at the Skinners World Cup in Highclere (GB).
Today a new "challenge" is waiting and we will see how
Bracket's daughter "Birchfen Bequest at Gunsights",
now 11 months old, will perform in the future!
Since
2002 I have been judging working tests in Germany and other European
countries. Four years later I became a "JGHV"-Judge
for classical German hunting tests on cold game. In 2009 I was
appointed international FCI-Judge for Retrievers. Further I have
been on the breed committee for Labradors of the German Retriever
Club for more than six years, always trying to keep up the banner
for the Labrador as a gundog.
I
feel deeply honoured at being invited to judge this year'' ICC,
and I wi'h every competitor the be't of luck!
